In its first verse, Coco Jones’ “ICU” sounds like it was destined to become a wedding song. “Something ’bout your hands on my body feels better than any man I ever met,” she sings. “Something ’bout the way you just get me.” But that’s only part of the story: In the second verse Jones explores what it feels like to have grown apart from someone you thought you’d spend the rest of your life with. “First we agree that we're better as friends/I delete every message that we sent,” she sings. That half will likely take it out of contention from soundtracking any “first dances,” but it doesn’t make it any less beautiful a song, especially when we hear Jones tell her partner, “You got a feel and a soul that I need in my life.” Listen to “ICU” on R&B Now and add the playlist to your library to stay up on the latest and greatest of the genre.
