Brett Kissel is carefree and nostalgic on “Never Have I Ever,” a new track off his ambitious forthcoming four-part album The Compass Project, due in installments later this year. “Never Have I Ever” comes from the South Album, as each installment is named for one of the four cardinal directions on a compass. Taking its name from the popular party game, “Never Have I Ever” channels the excitement and anticipation of swapping secrets, falling for crushes, and playing truth or dare as starry-eyed teenagers, with a wistful melody to boot. “It’s like a trip down memory lane, to a time when you’re in young love and on top of the world,” Kissel tells Apple Music. “I hope that when people hear it, they go back to their ‘butterflies’ stage, or play this song when they’re in it—maybe even play spin the bottle, just have the time of their lives with it.
