Off Gilbert’s recently released LP So Help Me God, the sincere ballad imagines a world without dirt roads and John Deere tractors, a world Gilbert and company hope they transcend before “three is just a number and Hank is just a name.” Gilbert tells Apple Music that, even before the song was fully written, he knew he had to get Shelton and Gill on the track. “In today's age, where features and collabs are really popular, it seems to be kind of what's pushing a lot of machines,” he says. “Every now and then you write one where you hear the feature during the writing process.
